There is always something growing at Delta Informal Gardeners (DIG). Members and guests can enjoy educational meetings, hands-on gardening, plant propagation, field trips, rose-growing activities and our annual plant sale. Whether you are a beginning gardener or have years of experience, you will find friendly people, practical information and many ways to participate.

General Meetings
DIG’s general meetings are generally held on the fourth Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at Brentwood Community United Methodist Church. Each meeting features an educational speaker or demonstration, club updates, door prizes and time to visit with other gardeners.
Guests are welcome, and no gardening experience is required. Please check the calendar below for current dates and program information.

Saturdays at the DIG’s Garden
On scheduled Saturdays, DIG members gather at the DIG’s Garden to work on seasonal projects, care for plants and prepare for the annual plant sale. These relaxed workdays combine hands-on gardening with learning, teamwork, conversation and refreshments.
Activities change with the seasons. Please check the calendar below for upcoming Saturday workdays and information about what to bring.

Plant Propagation
DIG’s propagation program teaches members how to create healthy new plants from cuttings and other propagation methods. Beginners work alongside experienced members while learning plant selection, preparation, rooting and ongoing care.
Seasonal propagation workdays also produce many of the plants offered at DIG’s annual plant sale. Check the calendar for upcoming classes, workdays and information about what to bring.

Rose Growers Group
The DIG’s Rose Growers Group is a new hands-on learning program focused on growing healthy, beautiful roses in East Contra Costa County. Members meet throughout the year to study site preparation, rose selection, planting, fertilizing, pruning and seasonal care.
The group will also help establish and care for a demonstration rose garden in Oakley, providing a place to learn together, exchange observations and follow the roses through the seasons. Participation information and upcoming meeting dates will be posted on the calendar.

Field Trips
DIG’s Field Trips give members opportunities to explore outstanding gardens, nurseries, farms and other horticultural destinations. These outings combine gardening education with the enjoyment of discovering new places and spending time with fellow gardeners.
Destinations and participation requirements vary. Some trips may require advance registration, transportation arrangements or an additional fee, so please check the calendar and club communications for complete details.

Annual Plant Sale
The Annual DIG’s Plant Sale is one of the club’s largest community events and its primary fundraiser. Throughout the year, members propagate, grow and care for thousands of plants while sharing their knowledge and helping customers select plants for their gardens.
Proceeds support DIG’s educational programs, garden activities and community projects. The 2027 DIG Plant Sale will be held Saturday, May 8—the day before Mother’s Day. Additional information will be posted as the sale approaches.
